National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Governor Radovan Jelasic said in Washington that he is optimistic despite the world economic crisis and that there will be positive effects seen by the end of the year. “I think that it is very important to see that the world is headed in a better direction, and it can be predicted probably that there will be improvement in the world economic crisis by the end of the year, or the beginning of next year,” he stated. “America has made more progress than other parts of the world. However, it is obvious that as far as the developing countries are concerned, including countries in transition, this effect is a lot more negative than expected and we can expect improvement no sooner than 2010 or 2011,” said Jelasic.
