Serbia's trade deficit in 2008 was at EUR 8.2bn – 15.2 percent up on the year before. Exports of goods in 2008 totaled EUR 7.4bn, an increase of 15.5 percent, while imports were worth EUR 15.6bn – up 15.3 percent compared to 2007. Serbia's trade deficit grew in 2008 Serbia's main export partner in 2008, when it comes to export, was Bosnia-Herzegovina with USD 1.3bn, while the country imported goods and services worth USD 3.5bn from Russia. The highest deficit was also recorded in trade with Russia. This comes due to the import of energy products, above all oil and gas, and because of insufficient application of the Bilateral Free Trade Agreement on the part of Serbia's exporters.

Serbia's main export partner in 2008, when it comes to export, was Bosnia-Herzegovina with USD 1.3bn, while the country imported goods and services worth USD 3.5bn from Russia.

The highest deficit was also recorded in trade with Russia. This comes due to the import of energy products, above all oil and gas, and because of insufficient application of the Bilateral Free Trade Agreement on the part of Serbia's exporters.
