The Horgos-Pozega hi-way project was called into doubt just when a deal was about to be reached, say the concessionaires. The Alpina-PORR consortium stress that their proposal would bring about the speedy implementation of the project, with work beginning on January 1, 2009. It is noted that the total value of concessions would boost state coffers throughout the entire concession period by over EUR 900mn, even in the event of revenue from highway tolls being less than expected. In the event of a positive increase in circulation, the government would receive over EUR 3.2bn in concession payments, the statement adds, pointing out that in the proposed founding contract the concession period would last 25 years. Alpina-PORR stress that they are on stand-by to resume implementing the project, as they have honored all the obligations in the existing concessions contract, adding that they are certain that their proposal for financing the project is the most lucrative solution for Serbia.
