Delta Sport plans to open its first Costa Coffee cafeteria in Croatia in the second half of 2008, the company says. General Director Goran Karic told reporters that the network's regional expansion, worth EUR 20mn, will start in April of next year in Montenegro, while two Costa Coffees will open in Croatia after that, most likely in cooperation with local partners. Delta finally in Croatian market? Delta Sport, a part of Delta Holding, one of Serbia's leading companies, in July 2007 signed a franchise contract with British Costa Coffee, to open a chain of shops in the western Balkans and Slovenia. The plan is to open 100 cafeterias in the next five years, and invest EUR 200,000 in each. 20 shops will open in Croatia alone, worth EUR 4mn. Costa Coffee owns 573 cafeterias in the UK and 189 abroad. The move will boost Delta's bid to expand in the region, an ambition that has so far suffered greatest setbacks in Slovenia.
