Serbia hosts Eurochambers meeting

Eurochambers, an organization representing 46 members, comprised of 2000 regional and local Chambers with over 19 million member enterprises in Europe, made the exception to mark the appointment of Serbia’s Chamber of Commerce chairman Slobodan Milosavljević as one of its presidency members.

The organization’s chairman Pierre Simon said in Belgrade last evening that the future of the region lies in integration with the EU.

“Out goal is to stand beside the potential Union member countries, as we believe economic growth to be one of the means to establish peace and stability. We are here to encourage trade cooperation between our members and help them become more competitive”, Simon said.

President Boris Tadić addressed the gathering saying that improving the investment climate and harmonizing regulations with those of the EU ranked high on the list of Serbia’s priorities.

“Rest assured that Serbia’s new government will do all to integrate Serbia with the EU as soon as possible. Finalizing the Hague cooperation will have the priority in order to resume the Stabilization and Association talks”, Tadić said.

The participants stressed the importance of the CEFTA agreement for the region. In order for the agreement to be implemented, the member-states must solve all outstanding issues by June this year.

Eurochambers representatives also expressed their willingness and ability to help the region develop, as well as to continue with economic assistance to date awarded to over a million entrepreneurs.
