“I believe that great synergy can be achieved by merging these two companies. Both NIS and Rompetrol have oil refineries in direct contact with the Danube, so that the exchange of goods and resources is very much possible. NIS could thus access new markets via Rompetrol facilities”, said Patriciu.

Rompetrol Group, with its head office in the Netherlands, began operating in the Black Sea region. It acquired the independent company Dyneff Group with its wholesale and retail network in France and Spain.

Rompetrol  also operates in South-Easthern and Central Europe (Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova) and includes Georgia and Kazahstan

“Globally speaking, we operate in 13 countries. However, the majority of our facilities and activities is located in France, Romania, Spain and South-Easthern Europe. Our development strategy will still be focused on European markets”, Patriciu concluded.
