High unemployment rate of disabled

In Serbia, 87 percent of the disabled are unemployed, and 70 percent are living under the poverty line.

Disabled persons also lack the opportunities for receiving a quality education, and are traditionally educated in special schools because Serbia has yet to adopt a Law for Inclusive Education, Bogdanović said.

Officials of the centre state that an atmosphere must be created in Serbia for the employment and self-employment of disabled persons, in order to enable them to work as active members of the society.
