The government adopts a project of urgent reconstruction of all of the country's dispensaries.

Health dispensaries reconstructed

Nearly 60 million euros taken from the National investment plan will fund repairs, maintenance and the purchase of new equipment for 157 medical facilities. Crumbling walls, rusty pipes and decayed doors and windows will be left behind. The goal of the project is for the doctors and patients to have similar conditions in all of the country’s dispensaries. Surgeries, waiting rooms and sanitary knots will be the first in line.

Health minister Tomica Milosavljević says all that can be done will be done to repair heating, cooling, maintenance and infrastructure related to power and water. If all goes as planned, the patients will be able to use the reconstructed facilities in half a year. Local contractors will also benefit, especially those able to coordinate works.

According to the plan, an additional 350 million euros will be invested in Serbian health infrastructure by 2010.
