HANOVER The Serbian government adopted a strategy that will make it possible for Serbia to become the most attractive country in the region in terms of IT investments. This optimistic note was sounded on Friday at the CeBIT technology fair in Hanover, Germany, by Serbia's Minister of Finance and Economy Mladjan Dinkic. Minister: Serbia will become attractive for IT investors "We will back prompt delivery of funds to Serbia's software companies so that Serbia could get a good export product," Dinkic said after presenting the program for development in IT industry the government adopted at its Thursday session. Dinkic said that at the fair, the government backed the Serbian companies which are struggling to export software to foreign markets with high demands. The IT industry constitutes one of the priorities in the strategy of reindustrialization and Hanover was the real chance to promote the program in the world, Dinkic said. The minister explained that the adopted program implies that the taxes and contributions for salaries of all employees in the software industry would be lower by a third relative to their current amount as of the second half of the year. Dinkic noted that all beginners in the IT sector would be able to get start-up grants if they have investors or wish to back the development of the companies. He also announced two large gatherings in Serbia for April, that will be attended by "some of the biggest Silicon Valley investors and others from western Europe", and said they would present the industry's "the latests investment models and trends" to domestic investors and entrepreneurs. Dinkic today confirmed the arrival in Serbia of Brad Feld, a venture capitalist who invested in hundreds of startups as "angel investor" or through funds. The Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA) organized the presentation of Serbian companies on the biggest global fair of information and communication technologies CEBIT which gathered 79 companies from Serbia in the period from 2003 to 2011.
