C. bank chief: Inflation 7.7 pct in 2009
5 November 2009 | 14:38 | Source: Tanjug
BELGRADE -- National Bank of Serbia Governor Radovan Jelašić says the drop in the GDP will be about 2.8 pct by the end of the year.

He also put the annual inflation rate at 7.7 pct.

Jelašić said at a news conference in Belgrade on Thursday that, after the drop in inflation by minus 0.1 pct in September, the deflation of minus 0.2 pct is expected in October, therefore the total inflation in 2009 should be about 7.7 pct.

He pointed out that the inter-annual growth of inflation in October will slow down to about 5.2 pct.

Speaking of GDP evaluations in 2009, Jelašić said that he expects a growth of economic activity by 4.1 pct in the third quarter of this year, therefore the drop in GDP by the end of the year "might be 2.8 pct".
