Public companies on sale in 2010
3 November 2009 | 14:14 | Source: Tanjug
BELGRADE -- State-owned companies, sports clubs and local communal services companies are expected to be privatized in 2010, according to the Privatization Agency.

Acting Agency Director Vladislav Cvetković said that the largest privatizations of public enterprises are yet to come, with the sale of Galenika pharmaceutical plant, Telekom Srbija telecommunications company and the Belgrade Airport.

“In the first quarter of 2010, if everything goes according to plan, a tender should be announced for Galenika,” Cvetković said, adding that the economic crisis led to circumstances where a realistic price could not be expected to be paid for the company at this moment.

He said that local communal companies should be privatized through public-private partnerships, and that prerequisite conditions have been prepared for the privatization of sports clubs.

Cvetković said that national carrier Jat Airways and the Hotel Slavija (if all legal questions are solved), Inex Zlatna Obala, the sale of the property of the Generalexport building in New Belgrade and the Inex building and the Dimitrije Tucović industrial complex are all expected to find potential buyers.

He also announced that the public sale of Inex’s buildings will be held on November 13, with the starting price of EUR 10mn.

Cvetković said that the results of privatization thus far include the sale of 2,250 companies and income of EUR 2.3bn, adding that there were also agreements made for EUR 1.5bn of investment programs and EUR 280mn for social programs.
