Fiat’s chief architect Diego Velini has given the city of Kragujevac the plans for building the cooperative factories in the Korman Polje industrial zone. The company for producing parts for Fiat will be located on an area of 35 hectares, while another 20 hectares will be set aside for Iveco’s bus factory. Plans for Fiat factories ready Work on the construction of the production facilities will begin in the second half of 2010. Next to the Kragujevac-Lapovo highway, there will be at least 15 cooperative factories build for producing Fiat auto parts. The National Investment Plan Ministry has secured RSD 900mn (EUR 968,000) for completing the highway and also finishing the project documentation for Korman Polje. In order for the realization of this plan to begin as soon as possible, there will be work put into finishing the main project by the end of the year, along with working on the plan for detailed regulations simultaneously. Work on infrastructure and communal equipment for the industrial zone will begin in early 2010, after which the construction of the factories will begin. Kragujevac Deputy Mayor Nebojsa Zdravkovic said that in the next two months, Fiat officials could state what factories will be built in Kragujevac, and the way in which they will be organized spatially within the Korman Polje zone.
