The city of Kragujevac and Italian Fiat have today signed a memorandum of understanding, the Economy Ministry has announced. Kragujevac Mayor Veroljub Stevanovic signed the agreement on behalf of the city, while Fiat Vice-President Alfredo Altavilla performed the honors on behalf of the company. Kragujevac, Fiat seal cooperation The ceremony was attended by President Boris Tadic, DS, Economy and Regional Development Minister Mladjan Dinkic, G17 Plus, and Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic, DS. According to this memorandum, the city authorities will make the Turin-based company exempt from all local taxes and fees for the next ten years, and will provide land free of charge should it need to extend its production capacities, Dinkic announced earlier. He explained that the memorandum between the city of Kragujevac and Fiat was a part of the already signed Memorandum of Understanding, Strategic Cooperation and Joint Investment whereby the Turin factory will assume a 70 percent stake in Zastava with an investment of EUR 700mn, with the state retaining the remaining 30 percent.
