Appeal to Serb community in Kosovo APPEAL To the Serb Community in Kosovo We appeal to the Serb community in Kosovo to vote in the local elections scheduled for November 15, 2009. By casting a ballot in the upcoming elections, Kosovo Serbs will prove that they take the responsibility for their future in their own hands. Only through active participation in Kosovo’s political life the Serb community could efficiently solve its crucial everyday problems: status and property rights, and existential economic, social (educational and healthcare) and other issues. We remind the Serb community that, 15 years ago, Serbs in Croatia boycotted local and parliamentary elections. By jeopardizing themselves their vital interests in local communities, they nothing but compromised their living in Croatia. It took them fifteen years to realize how tragic the consequences of their earlier decisions had been and how important it was for them to take upon themselves the responsibility for their future. No rational interests of the Serb community could explain the persistent disregard of the upcoming local elections in Kosovo. On the other hand, by voting in the local elections the Serb community would demonstrate that it is fully aware of its complex position but also that of Serbia proper. Only if economically stable and politically constructive the Serb community can ensure its dignified life in Kosovo and turn into an independent sociopolitical factor. The centuries-long Serb-Albanian coexistence in Kosovo testifies that normalization of mutual relations is the only and the best option for both communities. APPEAL

To the Serb Community in Kosovo

We appeal to the Serb community in Kosovo to vote in the local elections scheduled for November 15, 2009.
