"We've offered petrochemical, nitrogen plants to Russians"

When asked why Russian companies would be interested in these enterprises, Knezevic said Serbia's oil and gas company NIS - majority-owned by Russia's Gazprom Neft - was the biggest creditor of the petrochemical plant.

Naphtha, the basic raw material used by the petrochemical plant, is produced by the NIS oil refinery in Pancevo, he added.

"What we are offering them is that we jointly revive the petrochemical plant to make it a solid and profitable company in the future. In the same way, we are offering them to become involved in the nitrogen plant and the MSK," Knezevic told the paper.
