Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was warned by Russian intelligence services of an imminent coup, Iranian media are reporting.

Fars News said that last week "the Russian army intercepted Turkish military communications that indicated a coup was being organized against the government of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan" - including "helicopter communications ordering soldiers to arrest or kill the Turkish president in the resort town of Marmaris.""The diplomatic sources said the shift in Erdogan’s foreign policy stated only a week before the coup has been 'a major cause pushing several foreign states to provoke and promise support for the army to stage the coup, and the same shift also saved him,'" Fars News reported.
Speaking on Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he had "no information" about Russia reportedly warning Erdogan about an imminent coup.
"I don’t have such information and I don’t know the sources, to which the news agency Fars is referring," Peskov told journalists, TASS reported.
In the wake of the July 16 failed coup, during which 290 people died, Turkish authorities reestablished control over the country, arresting more than 10,000 so far.
Late on Wednesday, Erdogan declared that a 3-month state of emergency was in force.
He also suggested that there could be a link between the pilots who shot down the Russian Su-24 last November and the movement of U.S.-based Fethullah Gulen, blamed for last week's failed coup attempt.
