World Bank "supports government's reforms"

Sherman "praised reforms of the Serbian government, primarily in the area of financial stability preserved through the process of fiscal consolidation, as well as the development direction in which Serbia is heading."

One of the main topics of the meeting was the program of the new government of Serbia and the support that the World Bank is providing to Vucic.

According to a statement, special attention was paid to the process of restructuring of state-owned and public enterprises such as the Electric Power Industry of Serbia, RTB Bor and Resavica, in which the World Bank is actively involved in cooperation with the relevant ministries.

Vucic and Sherman "talked about the upcoming Summit of the countries of the Western Balkans in Paris, as well as the action plan for application of the so-called soft measures for the implementation of trade and infrastructure integration, which the World Bank will present at this summit."

Sherman announced the arrival of World Bank President Jim Kim to Belgrade in the second half of September.

Priority themes that will be discussed during this visit will be strengthening of the education system in Serbia, notably the improvement of early education for children, which will be implemented in cooperation with the Novak Djokovic Foundation.

Vucic thanked Sherman and Goldstein for "the huge support that the World Bank has so far provided in the process of implementing reforms in Serbia, and stressed that the new government of Serbia will do everything in order to successfully implement the necessary reforms."
