The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic, who is also minister of construction, transport and infrastructure.

Mihajlovic briefed Kim and World Bank Country Manager for Serbia Tony Verheijen on further plans and efforts so far to modernize Serbian Railways, said a statement released by her ministry.

"We are talking to unions and we have many aggravating circumstances but we must be united in this process to establish a good model for reforming other public enterprises," Mihajlovic said at the meeting, held in the Serbian government building.

The legislative framework to open the Serbian railway market to private operators is complete, she also said.
