SRS official Nemanja Sarovic, who, along with colleague Natasa Jovanovic represented that party at today's consultations, told reporters that after their suggestion that he should resign, Nikolic "left the meeting after 30 seconds."

"Nikolic had no patience to hear what the SRS delegation had to tell him and got up and left as soon as after 30 seconds," Saric told reporters.

He added that the president also heard that the Radicals "had no intention of joining Vucic's government," and that he was urged to resign "because of his involvement in numerous affairs and because he has acquired numerous pieces of real estate, has a fake university diploma, while his wife has a foundation based in the building of the Presidency."

Asked whether Nikolic said why he was walking out of the meeting, Natasa Jovanovic said the Radicals insisted on "presenting all their arguments" - and that they should have been given "half an hour" to do this.

"The president said he heard the position of the SRS not to join the government," Jovanovic added.

Asked why SRS party leader Vojislav Seselj decided not to take part in today's consultations, Sarovic said the meeting was a formality, while Nikolic and Seselj "should meet in another place and another time, in the presence of journalists, and in public."

Nikolic was a high ranking official of the SRS and a close personal friend of Seselj until 2008, when he and Aleksandar Vucic broke off to form the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) amid political acrimony. Nikolic and Seselj have not met since. As part of his post-election consultations, the president last week met with SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic, who informed him he will have a majority in the new National Assembly to elect his next cabinet.

These consultations continued on Monday, when Nikolic spoke with leaders of the SPS-JS coalition Ivica Dacic and Dragan Markovic, and with the leader of the Democrats, Bojan Pajtic.

During the day, he will receive representatives of the remaining electoral lists represented in the National Assembly.
