U.S. President Barack Obama has told Japan's NHK television he will not apologize during his visit to Hiroshima this week.

Obama will not apologize for nuclear bomb while in Hiroshima

Asked whether he would apologize, Omaba said:

“No, because I think that it’s important to recognize that in the midst of war, leaders make all kinds of decisions."

“It’s a job of historians to ask questions and examine them, but I know as somebody who has now sat in this position for the last seven and a half years, that every leader makes very difficult decisions, particularly during wartime," said he.

A total of 140,000 people were killed by the first nuclear bomb thrown at Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Three days later, a second was used against the city of Nagasaki, killing 74,000.
