Announcing the meeting, Petraeus said that Vucic, with his "reelection" took on the obligation to pursue the path towards the EU.

"We believe that is the way for these countries to start implementing appropriate reforms. If this continues, we will invest even more," said Petraeus. On several occasions, representatives of Serbian authorities said there were "serious negotiations with the KKR in the context of resolving problem loans in Serbia."

Petraeus, a former CIA director and senior Pentagon official, spoke at the Sarajevo Business Forum to point out that investors need consistency and transparency.

"It's great to be back here in Bosnia-Herzegovina, where I came as a soldier when Bosnia-Herzegovina needed it. I am here today as a partner in a firm that has invested 1.5 billion in telecommunications in the former Yugoslavia. Here (in Bosnia) we have an investment of around USD 150 million," said Petraeus.

Speaking about relations between Russia and the West, Petraeus said that "this kind of tension can affect the investment climate and investment inflow."
