Chakrabarti: Reforms have brought more investments to Serbia

In an exclusive interview to Tanjug during the International Monetary Fund/World Bank spring meetings in Washington, Chakrabarti said that Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has demonstrated a commitment to continue the reforms.

For the EBRD, Serbia is an exceptionally significant country for many reasons - our share in investments there has been on a noticeable increase since the start of reforms two years ago, Chakrabarti said.

Secondly, much is being done to improve the investment climate and another reason is that Serbia is among the first countries in the region that are trying to attract investors from outside the region - from Asia, the Persian Gulf, etc, he said.

The EBRD has invested around EUR 4.2 billion in over 200 projects in Serbia to date, including EUR 478 million in 25 projects in 2015 alone.
