The Special Court in Belgrade on Friday found Marko Miskovic guilty of tax evasion and sentenced him to 3.5 years in jail.

Delta Holding owner's son sentenced to 3.5 years in prison

Marko Miskovic, who has been cleared of charges of defrauding road maintenance companies, will also have to pay a fine of RSD 8 million.

Nibens Group owner Milo Djuraskovic has been found guilty and sentenced to seven years in prison and money fine of RSD 6 million for causing financial damage to road companies and the Krusevac-based FAM factory.

Judge Maja Ilic read the verdict today and explained that Djuraskovic and a group of eight others - who received sentences ranging from a year under house arrest to five years in prison, along with being ordered to pay individual, and a collective money fine of RSD 3.14 billion - syphoned off money from the road companies, ruining them in the process.

The prosecution's indictment stated that the companies suffered financial damages of RSD 16.95 billion in the period between 2005 and 2010, while the damage to the state budget amounted to RSD 472 million.

As for FAM, the company was robbed of over EUR 32 million, while Djuraskovic illegally gained about EUR 15 million of this sum, the organized crime prosecution said.

The corruption case against Miskovic, Djuraskovic, and others was launched in 2012. Miroslav Miskovic's verdict was not announced on Friday because the case against him was separated late last year due to the health of the accused. That trial is due to resume on April 8.

Miskovic, his son Marko, and Djuraskovic were arrested in December 2012, and released on bail after spending several months in prison.

Both the defense and the prosecution can appeal Friday's first-degree ruling.
