The Serbian government is working on a plan on where to accommodate about 6,000 refugees from the Middle East war zones, writes Belgrade-based daily Danas.

This concerns the centers where those kept in Serbia on their refugee route will be accommodated.

"For now it is certain that among those 15 to 18 cities will be Aleksinac, Tutin and Subotica. Also, the centers in Krnjaca and Presevo will be topical also in this context," the daily writes, quoting "diplomatic sources in charge of helping the government of Serbia in solving the refugee crisis."

As stated, other locations are being analyzed, while a final decision has not been made.

"It is very delicate work, especially when you take into account the fact that local communities are not prepared to accommodate a larger number of refugees in their immediate neighborhood, that is, they are prone to serious protests, which has been proved several times in previous years," the sources said.

They also warned that "many oversights" are being made in the process of selecting the cities where refugees will be accommodated "more permanently."

The diplomatic sources also "draw attention to the fact that the Commissariat for Refugees, which should lead this process, has been 'demoted' - and it is Minister for Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Aleksandar Vulin with several of his people that mostly deals with this."

"This has led to very bad relations between the Commissariat, i.e. Commissioner for Refugees Vladimir Cucic and Minister Aleksandar Vulin and his people. It is an open secret that Cucic has been slated to be sacked for a very long time, something that is likely after early elections in the spring," the paper quoted its sources as saying.
