"Everyone was dealing with Syria, but at least a part of them was thinking more about themselves than about Syria," he remarked.

"We have presented our country in a good way, we helped Syria as much as we could and asked for additional assistance to preserve stability in the Western Balkans," Vucic told state broadcaster RTS late on Thursday.

The donor conference raised over USD 10 billion for Syria.

It is a significant amount of money, Vucic said, adding that Serbia was among the countries that pledged the smallest amount (EUR 500,000) - "but also one of the poorest that had the honor of attending the event."

The Balkan migrant route or the possibility of refugees being returned to Serbia were not discussed at the conference, Vucic also said.

Speaking about his bilateral meetings in London on Thursday, Vucic singled out that with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who, he said, "took the time to meet with him," adding they spoke about "Serbia's European road, what Germany supports us in, and the migrant crisis."

Merkel is satisfied with the policy Serbia is conducting, revealed the Serbian prime minister.

Earlier in the day, Vucic addressed the gathering, dubbed "Supporting Syria and the region," pointing out that Serbia is "closely monitoring the development of the conflict in Syria and that it feels its effects on its territory."

Vucic recalled that 600,000 people passed through Serbia last year on their way to EU countries and "pointed out that our country is making a constructive contribution to the solution of the crisis and takes part in all activities under the auspices of the UN and the EU," reported the Serbian government's website.

"As a candidate country, we are fulfilling our obligations and waiting for the decision of the EU, according to which we will behave. Today Serbia is donating EUR 500,000 for Syria. The world does not need another crisis, especially not in the Balkans. That is why Serbia is doing everything to maintain stability, in order to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem," the prime minister said.

Vucic added that "the world needs to be united in decisions, because only then the hope will come back for Syria and the neighboring countries."
