MP who registered "Tanjug Info" leaves SNS parliament club

Mirkovic recently bought the Serbian daily Sport, and after the decision to shut down the state news agency Tanjug, registered a company under the name "Tanjug Info" - and said late on Thursday "that was part of the reason he was leaving the SNS club."

Mirkovic explained he "would not agree to political pressure" because of Sport and Tanjug Info, and that he was leaving the club of SNS deputies in the national assembly "so there is no suspicion of any kind of collusion that would damage the reputation of such a big brand."

On Wednesday, Mirkovic explained that Tanjug Info will be "a portal" and not a solution to keep the news agency, that should shut down at the end of the month, alive. Tanjug legally ceased to exist on November 5, after attempts to privatize it failed.

Mirkovic has also been mentioned recently in the context of "a rift" among the Progressives. To address this, he wrote an open letter to and SNS leader and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, saying he would "not be in his way."
