Speaking for BFMTV, he also commented on a special operation in the Parisian suburb of Saint Denis carried out on Wednesday to say it "reaffirms that we are in a state of war, a war with terrorism, terrorism that drove us to war," and that "the two terrorists" killed today were connected to the attacks in Paris last Friday.

"This terrorist organization, the Islamic State, has weapons, finances, oil resources and territory. It has allies, including some in our country," said he, and added that the French operations in Syria are "increasingly intensive," while aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle would "triple" French attack capacity.

Hollande also said that France will "continue to take responsibility and a part of European solidarity" after the attacks in Paris.

"Refugees are mostly going to Germany, north Europe and Great Britain, but we will welcome more than 30,000 refugees in France over the next two years," he said.

He also responded to criticism that terrorists were present among refugees arriving in Europe by saying that the connection between them and the terrorist threat to France was in "residents of Iraq and Syria being the ones who suffer the most because of those who organized the attacks against us."

Hollande also said tat "no xenophobic, anti-semitic and anti-muslim act should be tolerated."
