U.S.Ambassador to Serbia Michel Kirby applauded Serbia on Tuesday for its humane treatment of migrants coming from the Middle East and other parts of the world.

Kirby: Serbia treats migrants in a humane way

He said that Serbia does not necessarily control who stops on the highway or the other way of the highway - the final destination of migrants in western Europe.

All conversations that the Serbian government is having with the partners in the region - Hungary, Croatia and the EU are only a part of a broader conversation that has to keep taking place, Kirby said.

Kirby delivered an address at the Faculty of Economics in Nis to students, professors and businessmen in southeastern Serbia on the topic of economy - what he found when he first came to Serbia and the country's economy today.
