"There'll be no response to insane ban on Serbian vehicles"

According to Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, "economic measures can be answered with economic measures - but there can be no reaction to insanity."

"Serbia will not respond to insane measures. We thought the time when buses were boarded and when it was said, 'you, you, and you cannot continue' was long past," said Vucic.

As he said, Serbia had to respond with economic measures after four days of Croatia's blockade of trucks coming from Serbia - and that "everyone in the world understands that."

The prime minister said he will "not allow Serbia and Croatia to be put in the same basket," and pointed out "this was not done by senior EU officials such as Federica Mogherini or Johannes Hahn, either."

"EU officials have clearly said, in front of representatives of Croatia, that Serbia has no blame in this, that it is on the Croatian side," said Vucic, who earlier in the day received a delegation of the European parliament.

In reference to statements made in the past days by his Croatian counterpart, Vucic said "it was not a good way" to talk about "eagles and flies and scribbling" and that Serbia "will not participate in it." According to him - "irrational and delusional measures cannot be responded to in a rational way."

Vucic said there has been no contact with Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic, and that he was "shocked when he heard about the thing with the bus."

"It was not difficult to call him when they first introduced the measures, but now I must see if there is any sense in it," Vucic said.

He added that "Croatian citizens are always welcome in Serbia, passenger traffic will not be stopped."

"No one will be stopped because they carry a Croatian passport. Citizens of Serbia may also be calm and know that we have not provoked anything in any way," Vucic said.

He "expects that new resolute and clear reactions from the EU will follow, and that the problem will be solved." He also said he "expects the EU to open borders."

"The damage is serious and big. There will be no problems in our stores, and I hope that everything will last a short time. If it persists, there will be replacements for Croatian products, there will be products from Serbia and from other countries," he said.

The prime minister added he "hoped that the campaign will soon end in Croatia," and reiterated that "Serbia does not find anything about this situation funny."

"It's incredible that a country which is not a member of the EU has received more support from EU member states. It speaks to how much we are in the right," said Vucic.

The Serbian prime minister today described as "ridiculous" the claims made by his Croatian counterpart about "Serbia, Hungary, and the Croatian opposition" all teaming up against the government in Zagreb.

"He might have added that the Vatican, the CIA, the Masons, Serbia, Hungary, and the Croatian opposition made an alliance against him," Vucic told reporters on Thursday.

According to him, "Serbia does not want to use such speech" and is "a responsible state that behaves as such."

He at the same time "stressed that Serbia cannot cancel its state and not react to Croatia's economic aggression."

"That would mean saying - come over here, trample on us, we are flies, and you're eagles," said the prime minister.
