Vucic: Serbia will accept "a number of refugees"

He also said that "Serbia will accept a number of refugees."

"We're not in the habit of crying. I am very sincere when we say that. We are not an EU member, our priority is EU membership, but there is one question. How did it happen that Serbia has not built walls and wires on its border, which would be easy? Some countries did that, and you kept silent. We are more European than some Europeans when it comes to migrants and some other issues," said Vucic.

European Council President Donald Tusk said that "Europe is still the best place to live."

"Migrants who are risking their lives to travel such a long way and reach our continent deny in the best way all supporters of the theory about the decadence and decline of European togetherness. And that is why we now don't need big theories but concrete solutions," said Tusk.

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said her country does not intend to build border walls.

"What is happening in our neighborhood says we must be prepared in case some of those people come to us. We have no intention of building walls, but we must be prepared. This problem is complex and that is why local communities need to be prepared in order to accept those people in a way worthy of a human," stressed Grabar-Kitarovic.

Slovenian President Borut Pahor said the EU has no common policy on refugees.

"I am not saying that a system of quotas will solve this problem. I agree we need a strategic answer for this crisis, but as the first step, this could be a good answer. Saying 'no' to this suggestion during the meeting in June was the wrong answer," Pahor said.
