Italy sends EUR 100,000 aid to help migrants in Serbia

Italy is supporting Serbia's efforts to help refugees from the Middle East, who are heading north through Serbia to European Union countries, the embassy said.

Italy's contribution will be used to provide the most endangered refugees, housed in temporary accommodation centers across the country, with medical assistance, medicines and food, the release adds.

Italian Ambassador to Serbia Giuseppe Manzo said that the responsibility and solidarity that Serbia was showing in assisting refugees was a reflection of European heritage and true European spirit, just as every response to extraordinary circumstances should be.

Italy, in turn, is making its contribution responsibly and in solidarity as well, concluded Manzo.
