This project is important for the entire region, because it will speed up the transport of goods and people, boost trade and increase the number of tourists, said Vucic at a meeting on the Nis-Pristina-Durres highway, the government's media relations office said in a release.

The meeting, organized by the Austrian Ministry for European and International Affairs, was attended by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti, EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn, Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and other officials from Pristina.

The Albanian prime minister pointed out that Europe needs to support countries in the Western Balkans with concrete projects.

The EBRD president stressed that the free flow of goods must be enabled along the route in order for the project to be profitable, and suggested a meeting between the representatives of the countries included in the project, the EBRD and the EU in order to define the manner of funding that would not burden the public debt of the countries involved.
