"Chapter opening recommendation" expected in September

"We hope that the Council of Ministers will adopt a recommendation on the opening of the first chapters in the EU integration process in September, in order to hold an Intergovernmental conference by the end of the year at which the first chapters would be opened," Joksimovic told Belgrade-based daily Danas.

The only remaining task is for the relevant ministries to develop a plan for migrants by the end of August, as the EU subsequently requested that as part of the operational plan for Chapter 24 (freedom and human rights), the daily reported.

As Joksimovic put it, it is still uncertain which chapters would be opened first.

"Whether we will open chapters 35 and 32 or 23 and 24 depends on the continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina political dialogue. What is most important to me is that we have done everything we were supposed to do," she stressed.
