Iran "ready to strengthen economic ties with Serbia"

Rouhani "expressed the hope that the visit of the Serbian minister of foreign affairs would provide a new impulse to the development and improvement of the relations between the two friendly countries."

Agriculture and energy hold potential for improvement of bilateral cooperation, and cooperation can also be improvement in the culture sector, between universities and research centers, the officials stated during the meeting.

Dacic expressed gratitude for Iran's principled stand concerning Kosovo. Tehran does not recognize the unilateral declaration of independence of the Serbian province, made in 2008 by ethnic Albanians.

According to the MFA statement, "reflecting on the recently achieved agreement on the nuclear program, Rouhani noted that this agreement serves as proof that negotiations can render solutions to the most complicated of problems."

On Tuesday, Dacic also conferred with Iranian Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh and Ali Akbar Velayati, senior advisor for foreign affairs to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, "with whom he agreed that cooperation should be improved as a whole."
