"Dodik wants to do with pen what couldn't be done with guns"

Milorad Dodik's "destructive and confrontational policy is the Federation's key problem, that is transferred to Bosnia and the region," says Bakir Izetbegovic.

"This policy has stopped reforms and Bosnia's European path, driven away investors and foreign capital, brought people to poverty, and now threatens to lead to conflicts. As long as Serbia is not supporting such a policy, the problem will remain within Bosnia-Herzegovina and there will be no problems between the two countries," Izetnegovic has told the Belgrade-based daily NIN.

When asked about "his prognosis for Bosnia if Dodik fails to give up on the referendum (on the work of the Court and the Prosecution of Bosnia-Herzegovina)" Izetbegovic said that "the real question is the prognosis for the RS."

"For it is not Bosnia-Herzegovina that is the side creating the problem, it is the president of the RS, and in the last decades it has been proved that problems return to the lap of those who started them," said Izetbegovic.

Izetbegovic, who is also the leader of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), said that "there is concern that Dodik will try to finish with the pen what could not be finished with rifles and cannons."

"The idea that Serbs in Bosnia can, with a one-sided referendum, decide on matters that are of common concern of all peoples and of all citizens, while ignoring the Constitution, laws, the Dayton Agreement, the rights and interests of others, that they can remove with a pen Srebrenica, Tomasic, Keraterm and a thousand other places of suffering of Bosniaks and Croats from the territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina, is too dangerous a delusion that could lead us to disastrous developments," said he.

Asked why the investigation into the attack on Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic during the commemoration in Potocari on July 11 was slow, Izetbegovic said that "there is no doubt that everything will be done to find the attackers."

"The investigation is dealt with by a structure headed by the minister of security who is a Serb, an essential part of the structure is the SIPA whose director is also a Serb and of course the full investigative and security structure from the Serb Republic is made up of Serbs," said Izetbegovic.
