"This is a problem that must be solved by the EU, that must be solved by the international community. They owe us a lot of assistance. (They owe) much more compassion and assistance to those people and to us," said Vulin.In his words, migrants are "going their own way and their goal is not to stay in Serbia."
Vulin also said that Serbia is not building a reception center in Kanjiza, near the border with Hungary, "but a place where people returning from Hungary can be cared for, receive medical checkups, where we can do the appropriate paperwork."
"We would not want to make any kind of accommodation on the border with Hungary, in order to avoid that being interpreted as us trying to shift our problem to Hungary. That is no justification for the wall (built by Hungary)," he said, according to the Beta agency.
Vulin added that accommodation for migrants was being prepared in an old brickyard in Subotica, northern Serbia, and that the local government "promised it would be possible install showers and toilets" there.
"If we do not do this, then we will be seeing them (migrants) in every park, and then we'll ask why there are here and why we can't take our kids to the park. Then we'll be asking whether there are infections. When the state is organized, like it is, then there are no such things," said the minister.
According to him, Serbia is doing is much more than any other country with migrants.
"There has been resistance in Presevo, Kanjiza, Zajecar, and even in Belgrade, but, as you see, we have overcome those problems," said Vulin, adding that "talking is the only solution."
