Minister: New evidence in Bytyqi case

He said that new evidence suggests there were more people in the place where the crime was committed and that the evidence came from the database of mobile telephony and telephone listings.

"We have some new evidence arising from mobile telephony bases. And listings indicating that there were some additional persons on the spot where the crime was committed, and the fact that expert analysis of all the weaponry that was used in 1999 by some of the suspects was not done, and there was a bullet in the body. So we came into possession of these weapons and the expertise is being done," Stefanovic said on Monday.

The brother of the killed, Fatos Bytyqi, told the Serbian edition of Newsweek that he turned over the evidence about those responsible for this crime to the Prosecution for War Crimes and to Aleksandar Vucic at the time was the first deputy prime minister.

"I gave him evidence that Goran Radosavljevic Guri ordered it. One witness was together with Guri when he talked to someone on the phone and heard when he ordered his men in Petrovo Selo to liquidate my brothers... The witness lives in a European country. There are other witnesses, but they are afraid and do not want to talk."

The Bytyqi brothers, American citizens originally from Prizren in Kosovo were members of the so-called Atlantic Brigade of the KLA.

They were arrested on the administrative boundary between Kosovo and Serbia and taken to prison in Prokuplje, and then transferred to the base of special police units in Petrovo Selo where they were killed.

The U..S Congress recently passed a resolution which calls on the government of Serbia and the War Crimes Prosecution to resolve this case and punish those responsible.
