Additionally, the hospital has been provided with an aspirator, a defibrillator, an ECG machine, a scale for measuring neonates, radio wave knife, a color ultrasound machine, a vacuum aspirator, a stationary incubator, a warm bed and a transcutaneous bilirubinometar.

Deputy Director of the Health Center Dr. Mladen Kostic said on this occasion:

"The citizens of Vranje and of southern Serbia deserve to have a maternity ward with the best possible conditions for mothers and babies who are born in our hospital. I thank you for today's donation which will allow our medical staff to provide better health care for the newborns, our youngest citizens. Life should be invested in. We are sincerely grateful to the people from the company Nordeus and to the B92 Fund which recognized this, and are in Vranje for that reason."

"Nordeus is a globally successful company, but an important part of our business is here, in Serbia," said Milan Djukic, communications manager for the company, and added:

"We know very well how our fellow citizens live, we know the conditions in hospitals and maternity wards. We do everything in our power to help improve these conditions, because we believe that there is knowledge and good will, but what's missing are the funds to modernize the equipment. We joined in this campaign that helps babies and their mothers, because we want to change our environment and take an active part in creating a better Serbia."

The donation came as part of an ongoing B92 Fund campaign, "Battle for Maternity Wards," and Veran Matic, who heads the fund's Board of Directors, noted on Friday that Nordeus has made donations on several occasions in the past.

"The young people who run one of our most successful companies can be proud of what they did where their business is concerned, but they should be especially proud of their consistency in assisting the community in which they live and work. I take this opportunity to call on the authorities to introduce tax breaks for donors in humanitarian actions. I am sure that this measure would helped get more of our most successful companies involved in campaigns that help make life in Serbia better."

Nordeus, sometimes dubbed "the Serbian Google," previously made donations that fully equipped the KBC Zvezdara maternity ward in Belgrade, as well as the neonatology ICU of the capital city's Narodni Front clinic.

Today's victory in the "Battle for Maternity Wards" is 19th in a row. Previously, the campaign helped fully equipped maternity wards in Zemun and Belgrade, Vrsac, Sabac, Sremska Mitrovica, Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Pancevo, Leskovac, Knjazevac, Uzice, Pozarevac, Vrbas, Bor, Majdanpek, as well as two Novi Sad, and one in Krusevac.

EUR 2.3 million is still needed to reach the campaign's goal and fully equip all maternity wards in Serbia.
