"Elimination of tariffs on EU products won't disturb market"

BELGRADE Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) Chairman Zeljko Sertic has said that he does not expect disturbances in the Serbian market. He was referring to the period following the elimination of customs tariffs based on the Stabilization and Accession Agreement (SAA) between the EU and Serbia, which entered into force on January 1, 2014. He said that the abolishment of tariffs is not a sudden change, as they were gradually reduced, adding that the entire process has to be considered in the context of the obligations which Serbia has assumed in the EU accession process. Sertic said that as of the first day of 2014 the tariffs for the majority of products will be zero, except for around 400 most important products, primarily in the agricultural i.e. food industry. Consequently, the importance is laid on education of businessmen, strengthening of potentials and promotion of knowledge and management so as to make domestic products competitive in the EU market.
