Former paramilitary commander reportedly killed in car crash

The Belgrade based daily Blic is reporting that a former commander of the 1990s-era paramilitary unit, convicted for war crimes, has died in a car crash.

BELGRADE The Belgrade based daily Blic is reporting that a former commander of the 1990s-era paramilitary unit, convicted for war crimes, has died in a car crash. The newspaper said that Slobodan Medic, who commended the Skorpioni (Scorpions) unit, died on Tuesday along with his wife and son near the town of Sremska Mitrovica. The MUP did announce that the driver and two passengers in a Toyota vehicle lost their lives in a traffic accident, and said they were S.M. (47), LJ. M. (45), and D.M. The police said that the driver of the Renault was placed under arrest.
