BELGRADE The Montenegrin national handball team won the gold medal at the European Women's Handball Championship held in Belgrade. They beat defending champion Norway 34-31 (28-28, 24-24,12-11) following double extra time in the final match on Sunday evening. The bronze medal went to Hungary, which earlier on Sunday beat Serbia 41-38 (33-33, 21-19), also after double extra time. Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic congratulated the national handball team on Sunday evening "for the amazing success they achieved by getting into the top four teams at the European Women's Handball Championship".
