Spain grateful to Serbia for delaying EU letter

"Spain is grateful to the government of Serbia for not raising this issue at the moment, as President Aleksandar Vucic has already explained," the Spanish ambassador said.

Vucic said earlier that the letter was ready, and signed by him, but that Prime Minister Ana Brnabic would not take it to Brussels. Instead, he said, it would be delivered later, on to Spain's request, in order not to exacerbate the situation in that country.

The delay, however, does not mean the president and the government will give up on insisting on receiving the answers to the questions it intends to ask the European Union, and above all - why Catalonia cannot - while the self-proclaimed independence of Kosovo and Metohija could be declared legal.

Brnabic, who is in Brussels, said that the letter was prepared, but that she did not bring it with her "on request, above all of our friends from Spain."
