Brnabic also "pointed to the importance of continuous work with the councils of national minorities and highlighted the government’s commitment to this."

"The priorities for the next period will be a full implementation of the action plan for the realization of the rights of national minorities in Serbia. The fourth report has been completed and the work on the fifth has begun, with full cooperation with the national councils of national minorities," she said.

The prime minister that the work on amendments to the Law on the Rights and Freedoms of National Minorities and the Law on National Councils of National Minorities is drawing to an end.

"It is important that the government sends these two bills to the parliament for evaluation as soon as possible and to continue to work on priorities as identified by national councils, such as education and information. In that sense, funds will be allocated from the budget for national minorities for information in minority languages," Brnabic said.

Director of the Office for Human and Minority Rights Suzana Paunovic said that the Serbian government adopted the action plan for the exercising of rights of national minorities in March last year and that the Council regularly meets and discusses.

More than 400 people are involved in the reporting process on that document and every three months we gather information on how the field activities are being conducted, Paunovic stated.
