Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has sent a letter of condolences to Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, on the occasion of a terrorist attack in Barcelona.

Serbian PM offers condolences in wake of Barcelona attack

"We strongly condemn this terrorist act. This, unfortunately, is another confirmation that it is necessary to join forces to fight terrorism, which does not respect human lives and threatens the safety of all citizens," the prime minister said.

"On behalf of the government of the Republic of Serbia and on my own behalf, I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to you, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured," Brnabic said.

Reports on Friday said that Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack that killed 13 people and injured over a hundred.
