It is Washington, not Russia, that is bringing disorder to the Balkans, Croatian political analyst Zarko Puhovski has told a Belgrade daily.

"It is her desire to equalize their positions and to pull Serbia out of the Russian jaws. Mike Pence also spoke about this in Podgorica, obviously this has now become a fixed idea to all them," said the analyst.According to him, there is no chance for Serbia to join the EU in under ten years from now.
"The EU has no institutional capacity to receive new members and it is unlikely to reach a consensus on accepting anyone except Montenegro. So I think that Montenegro will be the first join the EU in less than ten years. The rest will wait, there will be different deals about whether they will go together 'as a package'. It also depends on how Serb-Kosovo and Kosovo-Serb relations will develop, on how things will go with Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina," Puhovski said.
He warned that "what Italy did to Slovenia and Slovenia in Croatia" - i.e., putting obstacles on the road to the European Union - "must not be repeated."
"We have a completely schizophrenic policy on the world scene, which is best illustrated by the fact that President Trump had a conversation with Putin during which he complained to the Russian president that he had helped candidate Trump become the president of America. The question is whether Trump will decide to further strain relations with the Russians, while Pence himself has uttered a complete nonsense, that Russia is bringing some kind of disorder into this region. That's what the US is doing, because America is changing the picture of the region, which is accepted in most countries, and not completely in Serbia," said Puhovski.
According to the Croatian analyst, the Serbian president and the Croatian prime minister will play the main role in future relations between Belgrade and Zagreb, and will own "both the good and the bad as their results."
