Weekly uses Holocaust imagery to criticize government

A statement the weekly sent to media today said that their intention was not to offend the Holocaust victims, but to criticize the Serbian government.

"The front page of the new issue of NIN has caused stormy reactions. Our intent was absolutely not to offend the Holocaust victims, but exclusively to criticize the Serbian government for disrespecting valid laws on labor and strike, that the government itself had proposed. Regardless, there are obviously readers who have been hurt by the provocative illustration on the front page and we apologize to them," said the statement, signed by the editor-in-chief and the NIN Collegium.

The decision to publish the front page in question has been criticized on social networks, but also by the president of the Serbian National Assembly.
