National Assembly continues debate on new government

Earlier, it was heard that Brnabic and her proposed cabinet would be voted for by 129 SNS members of President Aleksandar Vucic's ruling SNS, as well most of their coalition partners, which comes to 156 deputies - minus Dragan Markovic's United Serbia, the only member of the ruling coalition who announced they would not vote for Brnabic.

Also earlier, Green Party deputy Goran Cabradi announced support for the new government - because a new ministry, that of environmental protection, would be formed.

On Wednesday, after Brnabic presented her 88-page program, the opposition criticized her for the announced continuity with the previous government, while some were doubtful whether Brnabic would in fact be heading the government, calling her "a decoration, a mask," and saying that she lacks political power and experience.

In her program, Brnabic said she would be proud if the results of the previous government would be repeated during her term in office, if the Assembly elects her. She emphasized that the key priorities of the new government are digitization, education and economic development.

A sharp debate followed in the Assembly, with LSV leader Nenad Canak remaining to speak on Thursday.

The final legal deadline for forming Serbia's new government is tomorrow - Friday, June 30.
