Marovic was put on trial on corruption charges and sentenced to three years and nine months in prison.

The red notice was issued after he failed to report to the Spuz prison near Podgorica.

Previously, an order was given to bring Marovic in forcibly. He has been in Belgrade for while now, where he is receiving medical treatment.

In addition to serving time in prison, Marovic, who struck a plea bargain deal, also agreed to return around one million euros to the state and pay a fine of 100,000.

At the start of the investigation against him Markovic categorically denied any wrongdoing, but later accepted the prosecution's claim that he was the leader of a criminal group made up of former top officials of Budva, who, along with their associates, engaged in illegal activities that incurred multi-million damages to the municipal budget.
