Presidential election: Candidates so far

LSV leader Nenead Canak and DJB Movement leader Sasa Radulovic are the newest additions to the race.

Previously, PM and SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic became the candidate of the ruling coalition; former foreign minister and UN General Assembly President Vuk Jeremic also announced he would run, supported by the SDS party and several members of the Serbian Assmebly who in the meantime formed their own parliamentary club.

In January, former Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic announced his presidential bid, backed by the Democrats (DS).

Other candidates include SRS leader Vojislav Seselj, Dveri Movement leader Bosko Obradovic, and Cajetina Municipality President Milan Stamatovic, who will run as an independent, rather than a candidate of his Serb People's Party.

Aleksandar Popovic, a former cabinet minister, is the candidate of the DSS, while former Movement of Socialists official Bratislav Jugovic, who is supported by the Autonomous Trade Union, stepped down from the party role in order to be able to take part in the election.

The only woman on this list so far is Danijela - who also goes by the name "Danielle" - Sremac, president of the Washington DC-based Serbian Institute.

Another US-based contender is film producer Vladimir Rajcic, previously in the news for "arranging an interview with Donald Trump for a Serbian weekly." According to Trump's campaign, the interview was a hoax.

Active Serbia's Dusan Janjic will also be a candidate, as will former SNS member and show business manager Sasa Mirkovic, former Third Serbia official and right-winger Andrej Fajgelj - who has been arrested several times for threatening Aleksandar Vucic and Sasa Jankovic - and another former Third Serbia man, Miroslav Parovic, who is now supported by the Popular Libertarian Movement.

The Republican Party, which is not represented in the current Assembly, has nominated Nikola Sandulovic.

All presidential hopefuls have until March 12 at midnight to officially submit their candidature to the Republic Electoral Commission (RIK).
