Serbia wants embassies protected from "Albanian terrorists"

There are currently no plans to withdraw the staff of the embassies in question.

The request has been sent to the authorities of Switzerland, Turkey, Germany, Italy and Belgium, where, according to security information received by Belgrade, Serbian diplomatic and consular offices could be targeted.

Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic warned on Monday that, according to security information, members of the Albanian diaspora planned to take over of one of our diplomatic and consular missions in the U.S. or Europe in order to force Serbia to abandon its war crimes case against Ramush Haradinaj.

According to Dacic, this information was received "from a Western security agency of a big country."

The minister said that the conspirators also discussed the possibility of taking hostages.

According to the newspaper's sources, the service that supplied the information to Serbia received it from an agent that had infiltrated the ranks of the Albanian diaspora in one Western European country.

The Serbian MFA's state secretary responsible for control and security of the country's dilomatic offices abroad, Ivica Toncev, told the daily that despite the protests organized in front of some of our embassies over the arrest of Haradinaj, "the situation is under control."
